i love the late summer early fall on the oregon coast. typically  warm days, gentle swell, low winds, the most beautiful time of the year. this is looking north of boiler bay, north of depoe bay.

Shasta Daisy up close. After feeding the horse i was heading back to the house and saw the daisy's standing very still. when and gragged my camera, tripod and a film camera lens that is real sharp when shooting close. i like the misty water and the spiraling of the sacred geometry in the center of the flower.

canadian thistle in full bloom, very pretty and very fragrant.

when i first moved to the coast i was driving around in the hills and came across this bridge that led to the drift creek camp as it still does today. there was a gate that was closed with a sign on it that said - fisherman welcome - i was more use to signs like no trespassing, keep out, violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law - ahhhh fisherman welcome what a nice change.

this was shot in the evening hence the black background. i was using an extension tube that make the zoom lens more like a macro lens. i shot about 150 shots to get this. i was waiting until the bird was inside an imaginary box that was the focal length and point of focus. got many blank, half a bird, completely out of focus type shots. but i was blessed with this one.

Ansel Adams has a picture taken of the rising moon over the dessert. it appears to be taken at night. the shot i am told was actually shot during the day and with his darkroom magic made it look like a night shot. with that in mind here is a rising moon shot over the siletz estuary taken this evening an hour and a half before sunset.

Wednesday, April 9, 2014

for this evenings shot i decided to head to fishing rock. thought i was dressed warmly enough with a longsleved shirt and a hoodie, wrong. i bet the wind on the headland was blowing 40+ and it was cold. got some great shots, me thinks. here is the first one. pretty sweet. oh, one the new changes i am looking at is checking where the neutral grey point is, and adjusting that at the beginning of my workflow. this puts a better balance on things and i don't have to fight what colors i see and add much to the image. a little change, a big difference. i was in depoe bay this morning and had a few minutes so i stopped at smuggles cove for a shot. there is nothing like filling my lungs with cool salt air.
spring is here, the daffodils are about done and the narcissus are right behind them with the tulips
