Today i was working in Salishan, Gleneden Beach, Oregon. i have been meaning to get a shot down one of the freshly cut fairways. today seemed like as good a day as any.

We still have hummingbirds at the house. They were suppose to head south in August but there are some that look like they are going to hang around for the winter. Here is one of them.

Nov 22
gratitude and acceptance
today is thanksgiving 2012. how appropriate to be talking about gratitude and acceptance. We have read about gratitude in previous lessons. Gratitude when offered from the heart is a win win. When I tell you I am grateful for something I feel a warm glow inside of me and you give me a pleasant smile of appreciation. This is a good reason to be grateful through the day, every day. I am grateful for you and all that you have shared with me. I am evolving, changing, growing, moving forward one day to the next. Life is not the same shit different day. As I wrote these last few words the sun peeked out and cast it's warm rays on the side of my head. I am grateful for another day to be alive. Live is good.

Ashes and loved ones are in this ground. Pegs Mom, are dog Blue, and the sweetest of cats Little Miss Underfoot are all hear. The ground has been tended and cared for as it ought. We remember and honor you all.

Yesterday we had a friend who is a landscaper take care of our sacred ground. He removed the weeds and replanted the ground.

We have a fish mobile in our front yard that the spiders love. They build their delicate webs hoping that dinner will soon arrive. In the morning the webs hang heavy with morning dew.

Trying to get photographs of birds can be challenging. I have found if I don't get out of my car they go about doing what they're doing. They don't seem to pay any attention to me at all. I set up my tripod in the car, get all ready, then lower the passenger side window and shoot from the car. That is how i got this shot.

About 7 months ago I talked with someone at one of the churches here in town to see about hanging some of my photographs in the main hall. Now 7 months later Peg and I about emptied our house of my photos and hung them at the Congregational Church here in Lincoln City. The church is open for viewing Tuesday  thru Friday between 9 and noon, and of course on Sunday for service. They will be there until the end of the year.

i have been going through my older files looking for stuff i haven't  processed. this was shot in 9/2010, on the top of cape foulweather just south of depoe bay, oregon. this is like having a wonderful collection of negatives back in the day and reworking them.

Nelscott reef is the home to one of the biggest waves available to surf in the united states.   there are big wave contest in hawaii, mavericks near san fancisco and the nelscott reef. As i understand it, the reef is about 20 feet below the surface of the water. when the swell is greater than 20 feet it slams into the reef below, it causes the swell to jack up and the wave begins to break. i like surfing 4 to 6 feet maybe occasionally 8 to 10. 20 to 40 totally out of the question. the contest was not held last year, the conditions just weren't right, hopefully this year. they get the waves i get the shots.  stoked!

Depoe Bay from along side of the bridge that spans the harbor entrance.
T
The coast guard was doing a surf rescue last year. it was fascinating to watch them maneuver their boat as a large set of waves set up.

took this today in neskowin. there are several little ponds along side the 101. i have seen photographers spending time he and i wasn't sure why.   these ponds are the result of beavers hard at work. i didn't see them but there dams are what is holding back this water..
