i was out mowing our field this evening, an annual event. i was doing the back and forth and spied a lone tansy ragwort bush and it was covered in cinnabar moths. the cinnabar were introduced years ago to eat the flowering ragworts  as a control. my understanding is that the ragwort plant has detrimental effects on the bovine species. so they have sprayed and introduced the moth's to control the plant. so now i am looking around my field and i see this is the only tansy plant left. now my quandary is do i mow it and leave the moths nothing to eat, or do i go around and leave it alone. hmmmmm. i mowed around it.
