This is out in the meadow on the top of Cascade Head looking south. I can see the Salmon river estuary in the center of the picture. At this time of the year the river has it's name sake swimming back to where they came four years ago. I think an average size chinook probably weighs in around 30 lbs. A really big one might be upwards of 50 lbs. My personal best is 54 lbs caught on the Siletz river with my buddy Greg several years ago. The 45 parallel runs right through here. I am as far from the north pole as i am from the equator.
